So, I’ve been playing around with breadcrumbs on my site template, but the toggle for whether to display my ’Home’ page either displays ’Home >> Home’ or nothing at all. I’m sure this is a simple thing to fix, but I am stuck. Please help!
Err, actually, upon re-trying today, now it never displays "home" on the home page, but will display it on other pages.
I believe that is the correct functionality of Breadcrumbs. I have only played around with it, but it is used to get you back to where you were. If you are already at home, why would it display a home link? I could be wrong.
Okay, still sorting out my template so I’m not sure where that piece of code belongs, dev_cs
I’d really like to use breadcrumbs as breadcrumbs if it’s possible: I’m sure it’s something silly in my site setup that’s causing this to happen.
@deniro, I’ve seen it done like this on many sites.
Gak! Maybe I shouldn’t be using Breadcrumbs. They seem a bit wrong. Or maybe it’s the way I’ve set up my home page. (...?)
I just changed my site_start to a different page ID (page title: ’Currencies’), then clicked on the Home link, and the breadcrumbs displayed: Currencies: Home. I tried clicking on the News link and got, predictably: Currencies: News.
All pages are published and the site ID was set to the correct home page originally (and is back again now) but the problem is still continuing.
Right, I tried to get the Wayfinder breadcrumb alternative to work, but nothing at all appeared when I tried it. User stupidity I’m sure. Anyway, I managed to get Breadcrumbs working: I simply hadn’t made the other files/folders children of the Home page. It works fine now. :O)
I’ve found a workaround which I prefer not to stick with, but I have removed calling the breadcrumbs and instead hard-coded the text.
To the visitor it looks as I want it, but messy in the background.

I believe your document structure more or less looks like this:
- Home (folder 1)
-- Sub folder 1.1
-- Sub folder 1.2
- folder 2
-- Sub folder 2.2
-- Sub folder 2.2
If you use breadcrumbs for all documents under Home folder, you’ll find what you got now, but not to the documents under folder 2.
Breadcrumbs originally always show Home link exclusively as the [root] page, then add the folder >> subfolder [>> sub-subfolder...]
So what you’re having right now is:
Home (as the root) >> Home (as the folder) >>...
The right solution for this is by making a different Template for Home’s doc children that using [[Breadcrumbs? &showHomeCrumb=`0`]], and making another Template that use the common breadcrumbs for others.
