    Hello,

I’m ’’slamming my head at concrete’’ with installing and making the snippets work.
I would like to ask if someone can tellme which snippet is the easyest to install and takes the less work, because when I succeed installing and making the easyest one working, then I would go on a harder one..
I know it sounds a bit odd, but I don’t know why I can build a template for modx and there I face a problem with snippets installation and configuration..

Any help is useful, and yes I’ve read FAQ and WIKI...
    Kind regards,
    Rok

There are 2 types of Snippets, those that need additional files and those that are self contained. All snippets will have a corresponding ’snippet’ in the manager. You will need to follow the instructions for each snippet to be aware of the details for that particular snippet. The general steps are:

Step 1 - In the manager go to Resources > Manage Resources in the main menu and select the Snippets tab.
Step 2 - Now select ’New Snippet’. On the create/edit snippet page give the snippet it’s name (this is how it will be referenced within MODx) and add a description to make it easy to identify the snippets function.
Step 3 - (not always required) Upload the snippet folder to the /assets/anippets directory in our MODx installation
Step 4 - Paste the code from the snippet file you downloaded in to the ’snippet code (php)’ field. Snippets require the php <?php ?> tags.
Step 5 - Save and you are ready to use

Now add the snippet call to your MODx document [[MySnippet]] and it should work.

It is important to read the snippets documentation for any particular things to consider while installing. In the repository most snippets have installation instructions available.

Here is the documentation page on installing snippets: http://www.modxcms.com/adding-snippets.html
Here is some good info on Snippets: http://bobsguides.com/modx-snippets.html

      Hope this helps.

It helps quite a lot, thank you.

The thing is that I haven’t been aware of the ’step 3’ where there is no need to upload files, I was sometimes looking wierd and uploaded things and then wondered how the modx will get the files from it...

Now add the snippet call to your MODx document [[MySnippet]] and it should work.
I just add it to the new document and if its correctly installed and configured it should work?

What about the ’page visual look’ - where is a certain snippet thrown? Does it matter which template I choose for the document I put the snippet in?

You can place the snippet in any document or template. Most snipes provide methods for you to style/format the output the way you want.

If you install the demo / sample pages too (optional), there’s plenty of snippets already pre-installed, and you can check out how they work inside the pages/templates. It’s generally a good way to start using/learning MODx.

Both SPForm and EZfaq are relatively easy to install (EZfaq is probably the easiest) and there are tutorials at my site on how to install them. smiley

                    Hello!

                    1. I would like to import a gallery - I think the best would be maxigallery in the white space under the head, here is the pic how I imagine it..:

The next thing is when I do it as the howto says I face the problem. It looks that I configure the snippet right. I go to document and use the command [[MaxiGallery]] and on the site the button ’Manage pictures’ appears. From now on I’m stuck.

                    2. Could someone give me some detail info about the other ’’[xxxxxxxx]’’ commands?
                    If I use a command [!MaxiGallery? &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slimbox` &pics_per_row=`3` &max_thumb_size=`110` &max_pic_size=`0` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`1`!] ; Should there be [[MaxiGallery]] above it too? Screenshot:

                    3. The step one is not possible without going into the code of my created template, so I would like to know if there is any code or help available or with what I can help...

In hope for some constructive answers, I just cannot overcome that snippet problems in modx, don’t know why is it so hard to understand it to me...
                    Kind regars,
