OK I hope I am posting this in the right area.
I am looking to install or create a custom listing plug in for modx. Nothing too fancy, I want to be able to name custom fields with it, be able to search it, add edit and delete listings, and allow view by table and a view by a more online store type format, with sort features predefined for each listing type. Maybe multiple install don’t know. Oh and I need a category view, maybe with some menu features.
I want to use this for a couple of business functions. A simplified classifieds/store listing, also for an online address book for B2B resources and maybe even a sponsored list page. Some of it will allow guest data entry some not.
Anyway is there anything like this out there already or even close. If not I am trying to decide whether just to go ground up develop it in php or could I maybe get part of the way there with templates and template variables. Sorry I have installed and configed MODx but I have not done any custom development on it and wanted to get some more expert opinions before I dived in.
Also on a side note, what if I chose to do my custom piece in something other than php on the server side. Say Python or Ruby?
