Does anyone have any favorite or preferred caching/compression strategies or directives (e.g. for htaccess) that they would care to share for optimizing the performance of their sites? I have a site which has maybe 8 or 10 images in four galleries, each of which comes up on a different page. None of the images is particularly large and while it takes a moment or two to start their loading, a potential client has noticed this.
On a testbed, I’ve moved javascript to the end of the page, made sure the page and the gallery calls are both set to cached and in htaccess I’ve put in default expiration times and enabled "deflate" on various media types.
This has all seemed to help, but I thought I’d ask the more general question : how can the default htaccess file for MODX (Evolution, in this case) be improved for a real-world site?
Appreciate any thoughts,
Matt
