Chunk and Placeholder usage in snippets

Hi everyone,

I was wondering about the usage of chunks & placeholders in snippets.

When I try to use [+placeholderName+] or {{chunkName}} inside a snippet, the value is not retrieved/outputted by the snippet.

Is the only way to use chunk or placeholder values in snippets by using the API? - $modx->getPlaceholder(’placeholderName’);

Are the only places that [+placeholderName+] or {{chunkName}} will work are inside a template or another chunk?

You are correct, those are tags for outputting a value into the HTML, so they only work in actual HTML code.

To access them in a snippet, you need to use $modx->getPlaceholder($name) and $modx->getChunk($name);
