My client has discovered the meta and keywords management feature of the backend.

I omitted to install these and a grep through a new 0.9.5 install fails to reveal which file they are in.

So, I want to use [[GetKeyWords]] (??) and the equivalent for meta tags but don’t have the snippets, how do I retrospectively install them?

A lot of people prefer to use template variables for meta content. It’s more flexible and easier to handle than the default method, imho.

No snippets are required to take advantage of the backend keywords and meta-tags features. Those get injected into the head automatically by MODx.

Not in my 0.9.5 system they don’t, what am I doing wrong?

O snag in the modx meta manager is that it works on a page by page basis. In other words you need to activate the meta tags on every page, setting the main manager settings only prepare the system you then need to apply the meta on every page. I don’t think that the doc manager has a shortcut for this. That’s why most people prefer using a tv since you could set it once and have it available throughout the site in one step. I personally find the meta manager to be useless for large sites, cold be cool for small sites though.

It is also incredibly un-user friendly, having to multi-select list items to activate them is about as awkward to use as it gets (FF on mac os x) at least use checkboxes for *deities* sake. However, even so, it does not seem to work in modx 0.9.5 despite the presence of a fully featured back end control system.

The meta information is lacking in MODx to date. It’s much more productive to use TVs, and honestly remains in the distribution for backwards compatibility.

They still should work, and I’m not sure why they don’t work for you ed. However, without further knowledge or information, it’s going to be hard to tell. I’d start by making sure your markup is valid, but feel free to post additional information about your site so others can help.
