I seem to half got these to work. I want to be able to type in my browser bar www.mysite.com/alias and have the page with that alias appear - which it does.

However, at the same time a new folder (off the root) named alias is created. This means that next time I type the address, all I get is a (empty) directory list showing. I delete the directory and I get the right page again, but then it just recreates the directory.

Does anyone know how/why this new directory is being created and how to stop it, or am I going to be reduced to having to create an index.htm file within alias directory with a redirect?

    Thanks in advance

First thing you need to do is figure out how a directory called alias is being created. MODx does not automatically create directories or files representing documents in the tree; in fact, because MODx serves virtual pages, it only works if a file or directory does not exist at the URI being requested.

Jason you could probably clarify a quick question for me on FURLS.

If nameservers are not yet changed so I am running on temp url, e.g http/104.765.64.45/domain.com am I right in thinking that I would not be able to use FURLs until website is fully resolved with correct DNS (nameservers changed and updated in DNS servers)

@edge: I should think you would be able to use them on your temp url (I always do), but you need to make sure the site_url is working properly when accessed via that temp url, and that if anyone is accessing the site from the temp URL that nothing is cached or when users come to a cached page, they could easily be directed back through the temp URL.

            Thanks Jason

weird. I have it set up properly I am sure, but this one site will not work with Friendly URLS;s on temp URL. I also notice that although I can see files, image ets via manger resource, file in manager they don’t show via TinyMCS, but I have checked twice and every think looks good me me..

            Its got me baffled...
