Hello,
I’ve made a few posts here in the forums and I’ve been very pleased with the responses.
I’ve got a real estate investor who has about 10-12 properties that he wants viewable/searchable on his website. He wants a way to be able to add his own properties with photos and descriptions. I know there’s more than one way to skin a cat, so if anyone has any suggestions on how I could accomplish this with existing ModX features/plugins/snippets etc that would be great. Also, if some one is willing to put it together for me, I have some budget for this.
Thanks!
I have done some real estate listing before, nothing a few TVs and
Ditto with proper CSS styling won’t handle
My suggestion is : create TVs you need, use Ditto to list and template them and you’re good !
As for advanced search,
TVexplorer is definitely something you want to look at.

Thanks for the ideas. I’m not an experienced user, nor do I have php experience. But, I think I’ll read through the documentation on TV’s and Ditto - never used either of the two. If there are any more pearls of wisdom, please, don’t hold back!
Thank you!
If you missed Template Variables so far you’ve missed a big part of what MODx is about, this will open a lot of doors for you (TVs are custom fields on steroids) and you don’t need PHP to do powerful stuff.
As for Ditto, it’s one of the most powerful and most important snippet there is. Combined with TVs, there are few things you can’t do, without touching a line of PHP
If you have more specific questions, I’ll try to help !

OK, so I’ve created a template to display the properties. For the client to control/add his own properties I created a bunch of TV’s. That was really cool! TV’s are great! Glad I learned what they are. But, now, I’d like to make use of Ditto by calling some of the information from the property descriptions to a listings page where you can view all the properties. I just don’t know how to do that. Any ideas?
EDIT: OK, I’ve been working my way through the forums and the Ditto pages, but I’m having a hard time understanding Ditto. I understand the concept, but I have no idea where to start. I have created a template where I’d like Ditto to place the information, but from there I’m lost. I’m really sorry, I’m a designer not a programmer. I’d really appreciate help! ...teach a man to fish and...
Just back from holidays, which explains the very late reply...

Being a designer is OK, I am no developper either, you’ll get the hang of it quickly
Maybe you could clarify a bit about what you’re trying to do (with an example, always simpler), but I think what you need is digging into Ditto filters.

Thanks for the reply. I did get it figured out. All I had to do was dive in and just mess around with it. Finally, after much research, tinkering, and trial I got it working the way I wanted to using Ditto and some TV’s. Thanks for your initial advice.
