How to get the MostRecent Snippet to show newly updated vs created?

I’m using the MostRecent snippet in 0.9.6 RC1.

How do I get it to show the most recently updated page.
Right now, it shows the most recent document that was created.

I like how the admin has a Recent Documents tab that displays the last documents you created or edited.

How can we do this with a snippet for the end user? The MostRecent snippet only shows what is new from creation date, not edit.
