Is there a list of snippets that work with 0.95 ?

Or more precisely, if a snippet in the repository says "works with 0.9.2.1, 0.9.2" then does the absence of 0.95 mean "doesn’t work with 0.95" or does it mean "may or may not with 0.95, but we just can’t say yet till 0.95 is final"

    Cheers

I suppose that most of them will work. You can try them with 0.95RC2, if something doesn´t work, it will also not work in 0.95FINAL.

0.9.5 (and 0.9.2.2) are currently not available as options in the Repo form, so no-one is yet able to set this, even where it is known that they will work in 0.9.5 Final.

MadeMyDay is correct to state that there will be no difference in snippet compatibility between RC2 and Final.

So, in the meantime if people could use this thread to list the snippets that they know work with 0.9.5 RC2, that would be handy.

I’m thinking that perhaps we actually need to change our nomenclature to "Minimum Version Required" with an added option for compatibility notes. For example, if a future version of MODx breaks a snippet, then you might have a minimum version of 0.9.2 with a note of "does not work with MODx 0.9.7 or higher".

Won’t that make it harder to sort and filter? If by chance someone is looking for snippets that work with a specific version, it may be beneficial to be able to filter on just that version. Hopefully everyone will be running within the most current or two versions, but reality may be a different issue.

I agree with identity - people need to filter.

So, if we have Minimum Version, I’d like "Does Not Work In MODx From" as well (defaulting to blank), for those snippets that are made obsolete by new versions. If I’m looking for 0.9.7 snippets, I don’t want to see snippets that are known not to work.

I’m not proposing Max Version, because that relies on us knowing what all the versions will be, which we don’t.

If something became redundant in the first 0.9.5 beta, setting Does Not Work In MODx From 0.9.5 would have been more accurate than Max Version 0.9.2.1, because it *would* work in the then-unexpected 0.9.2.2 release.

I can well imagine a time soon when there are parallel versions of some snippets - a 0.9.2-0.9.5 version and a 0.9.7 version!

I suspect that forum threads are not the most useful repository for this sort of information, because it becomes very dispersed and without searching the entire forum, you can never be sure of knowing the "latest situation".

Possibly a Wiki entry would be better... at least for the MAJOR snippets like Wayfinder, Ditto, Jot, MaxiGallery etc, because their working or not working may be a deciding factor in deciding to switch or not.

Although I am not averse to experimentation, I am not yet familiar enough with the installation/upgrade procedures that I would be happy if I installed 0.95, made all my personalized changes to templates, chunks and snippets and then discovered that my navigation didn’t work, only to then find out that a single Wiki entry "Wayfinder 1.0.1 is known to not work for 0.95" could have saved me the time..

EDIT: THIS IS AN ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE ONLY - WAYFINDER WORKS FINE

Just to make that last post clear and not have have any misunderstandings,

                  the statement
Wayfinder 1.0.1 is known to not work for 0.95

is false, Wayfinder 1.0.1 works fine on 0.9.5

Sorry.. just an example.. if it makes you feel any better, I chose Wayfinder for the illustrative example because it is integral to everything on my entire site..!

And now in fact, I see that the Repository has "0.9.5" (and 0.9.2.2) listed for your snippets.. so does this mean that we can forget about forums/Wikis etc and just have the information in the obvious place - attached to each snippet?
