Im using HTML 4.01 Transitional on my site, the site is validated. Quick edit is there, I can see it on the site, but none of the functions work, I just see the bar and thats it... I can move it around & click on it but nothing happens... Can anyone confirm?

Probably not since it requires prototype which needs an XHTML doctype I believe.

Not at all. I just tried it, and changed the default MODxCSS template’s head:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
and QuickEdit works just fine.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
Not working...

It’s not the doctype; that one works just as well.
[edit] I stand corrected. I did not consider the train-wreck that is IE:
http://javascript.about.com/library/bliebug.htm
A DOCTYPE should not have any effect whatsoever on the Javascript that you code in your web page.
Unfortunately due to the people at Microsoft not knowing what a DOCTYPE is for the Javascript code that you need to use with your page is affected by the DOCTYPE that you use to define the page even though the DOCTYPE has nothing to do with Javascript.
lol!
Anyway just tested it in Opera 9.02 and it works perfectly. Any ideas how to get it working in IE, hacks maybe?

Why not just change the doctype in the template?
