Site Unavailable error when creating snippet

Trying to create the gtext snippet and getting a

’Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.’

error when saving it. tried logging out & in again. is this a prob with the install or my server?

That’s a server issue, not MODx.

thanks. any idea how to go about resolving it, or what it is indicating? i don’t believe there;’s any problem with server space since i’ve been uploading images steadily.

Is it a shared server? If so, you’ll need to contact your hosting provider.

Without any other knowledge of your environment, I think you may be experiencing the affects of mod_security if this only happens when you try to save certain snippets (try saving a very simple snippet to see) ... If that is a possibility with your environment, go to google and search for:

site:modxcms.com mod_security

Some good info was also added to the wiki about working with and around mod_security, so that might be worth a look as well. If you can’t get a "form" to save (which includes much more than just the obvious form) then disabling mod_security and trying again will usually give you an immediate indication and confirmation... assuming you can override mod_security... depending on hosting environement, may also be worth checking with your host as well, even if disabling (attempted disabling in this case) doesn’t seem to work.

i haven’t had a chance to fully investigate, but oddly i was able to add the sitemap snippet, while gtext is the one proving troublesome.
