    I recently installed modx 0.92 on my xp machine with the sample site, and for some reason the navigation won’t display. I have poked around in "Default Template", and searched the modx site for documentation. From what I can tell, the DropMenu snippet is supposed to show the site navigation, which isn’t working.

    I created two separate pages, both under the home page, all with menu titles, all with show in menu checked (including on the home page). I have verified that they are using the Default Template, and that it isn’t an issue with the css hiding the menu. The source shows nothing in the dropmenu container. I made no changes to the Default Template, so that shouldn’t be a problem either. No error messages in the manager, front-end, or in the apache log files.

    Just in case this matters, I have a recent version of MySQL installed. This caused an issue with another plugin MaxiGallery because I guess it is operating in something called "Strict Mode"? But like I said, I’m not finding any error messages.

    Any ideas?

      Is there no errors visible? Could you copypaste your dropmenu snippet call here? Do you have pages cached and are you using a cached snippet call (although it should display atleast something even then)..

      What problems you had with MaxiGallery? Please post to MaxiGallery support forum and I’ll try to help / fix those issues..

      EDIT: Try to change $modx->stopOnNotice = false; in the bottom of modx index.php to true and see if you get any errors visible.

        Thanks for the quick response. To answer your questions, there were no visible errors at all. The snippet call is the one from the Default Template which looks like this:

        <li id="dropmenu"><a name="dropmenu"></a><h2>Pages:</h2>
        [!DropMenu!]
        </li>

        I have one of the sub-pages set to cacheable, one to not, since I wanted to test both options. The home page is marked as cacheable. Setting the stopOnNotice to false didn’t seem to generate any errors that I could find.

        As far as the MaxiGallery issues, I forgot to mention that somebody was able to help me with that already. I only mentioned it in case the Strict Mode issue was relevent here.

        EDIT: I also tried using [[DropMenu]] which didn’t work either. Then, just out of curiosity I tried adding a bogus snippet reference [!TestBleh!] and it had the same behavior. No errors, and it gets stripped out of the source. After that I did file search for documents containing "DropMenu" in it, and the only results that came up where in the cache directory. Is it possible that I somehow don’t have the DropMenu snippet installed?

          If you call for snippet that isn’t there, that’s what happens.

          Go in MODx manager to Resources > Manage Resources > Snippets tab > Look for DropMenu, if it is there, open it (eg. click the title) and see if there’s some code. If it’s not there, install Wayfinder from the MODx resource repository and change DropMenu calls to Wayfinder.

            Thanks, that was the issue. For some reason DropMenu wasn’t installed as part of the base. I have WayFinder working now, but I’m not sure how to bend it to my specific needs. I’ll post my questions for that in the appropriate forum, if I can find it.
