the subject line says it all really! - i’m sick of FCKeditor and its annoying way of stripping all the whitespace out of the sourcecode of a page, so that editing the code by hand is a major pain in the nether regions [especially when i’ve formatted it nicely in an external editor and then pasted it into FCK’s source window! >:(].
anyone know whether tinyMCE does the same, or does it have the good grace to preserve the original formatting?
Do you mean that the whitespace and tabs are removed from the html source by the editor? I found
this setting from tinymce
manual. Didn’t test that what it does, but maybe it helps..
preformatted:
If you enable this feature, whitespace such as tabs and spaces will be preserved. Much like the bahavior of a PRE element. This can be handy when integrating TinyMCE with webmail clients. This option is disabled by default.

I’ve been playing around with the tinymce editor for a while, and as far as I can tell, it does preserve the content just like you create it by default.
For instance, I have modified the web_user comment area to act as sort of a bio spot, when the user goes to edit their profile they can either use a regular textarea or tinymce and it stays the same regardless.
I think that is what you mean...
I personally can’t stand fck editor either.
Hmm...another good call, Doze! I thought that the apply_source_formatting option would do it...apparently not! I’ll replace the apply_source_formatting with the preformatted one.
