    Hi,

I am using Revolution 2.0.8 and I can’t seem to work out how to allow a user to have file upload access that allows them to browse to an existing folder e.g. images or even to create a folder. All the user can see is the root files and only when using the MODx browser, they can’t see any of the existing folders and they can’t create a new one. So, although they can technically upload files they will all go in the root. As far as I can tell all of the file upload, file manager etc. permissions in user access are still enabled. I would rather the user couldn’t see the root so is there a way around this? Do I have to set this somewhere other than in user access settings? huh

    Thanks

The FileUpload snippet will let you specify an upload directory and, optionally, create that directory. It doesn’t have browse capability except for selecting the file to upload.

I think you can browse to an upload directory when uploading files with TinyMCE.

Thanks for the reply but I’m not sure that’s quite what I’m after. I want the site owner to be able to upload and change images and maybe the odd PDF but I want them to be able to do it using the in built file manager. Although files can be browsed to and uploaded inside TinyMCE there is still no way of specifying the destination folder when logged in as the user.

Sorry, I thought you wanted this for the front end for some reason.

You can create directories and upload to them in file manager. Check out the "MODx Browser" icon at the upper right of the files tree.

You can also right-click on a directory and select upload in the File tree.

I can create directories and upload them using the file manager when I’m logged in as site administrator but I can’t do it when I’m logged in as the user even though I’ve given them access to the file manager etc. in the user access settings. Am I missing something?

I’d suggest giving the user’s group the full Administrator policy in a mgr Context Access ACL entry. Make sure they can upload. Then remove permissions you don’t want them to have a few at a time, testing as you go. If there’s a bug in the permissions, you’ll pinpoint it that way.
