    Future updates of Replix will fix this issue by using the PHP5 XML functionality rather than the with replix included xml class.
    Does this mean that the snippet will be PHP5 only in future versions, or will it still support older versions?

      It will still support older version but will use PHP5 functionality instead if available.

          also thinking about giving the adminstrator a choice wether to store in XML or in a special comments table (tha latter will have the disadvantage of custom fields though)

            You could have a field in your comments table specifically for custom fields, which could store an array statement or csv.

            This looks like really great work. I’m going to give this a test run tonight.

              Hi, can Replix do pagination? I would like to use it as a sort of guestbook where people can leave general comments about the site in addition to comments on specific news items/blog posts.

              Thanks

                  Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated - argument passed by value;
                  If you would like to pass it by reference, modify the declaration of xml_set_object().
                  If you would like to enable call-time pass-by-reference, you can set allow_call_time_pass_reference to true in your INI file.
                  However, future versions may not support this any longer.

                  Anybody know how to resolve this in a hosted environment? I’ve tried placing a php_flag in my .htaccess file, as well as using ini_set(), but I’m getting nowhere. I do have the ability to compile my own version of php with my host, but I’d rather not do that. Suggestions are much appreciated.

                    should be fixed by editing the php function calls and function declaration. If you look in the code the function is being called like:

                    someFunction(&$someVar)

                    passing a var by reference this way has been deprecated.

                    The function declaration should be like this to get the same functionality:

                    function someFunction (&$someVar) {}

                    and the function call would be :

                    someFunction($someVar)

                    So if you want to fix it programatically that is how you could do it.

                      Thanks, Kyle. I had considered doing that, but the only solution that the developer, bS, offered, was this:

                      Do as the error advises and change the value in the INI file.

                      I didn’t want to get into anything sticky if I didn’t have to, but perhaps your suggestion will go off without a hitch. Thanks for the help.
