That’s a good one. I saw that calendar and use it as my inpiration when creating this calendar snippet.

Thanks for the accolades...but what is the reference to "creating tis calendar snippet" ??

Ehmm not sure about the question, but if you’re asking is there any specific reason to it, I will personally say that I just need a calendar system that integrate gracefully with MODx. Another thing will be to have as much features as possible for MODx.

So, what kind of programming skill would be needed to integrate one of the following calendars:

      http://www.monket.net/wiki/monket-calendar/

      http://www.planscalendar.com/

And have it’s data entry automaticly inserted by the news publishing snippet. Or perhaps it needs it’s own event snippet which would insert event news on the main page. In other words, one snippet which enters a summarized calendar entry (with all it’s fancy calendar options) along with a long description entry on any page we like.

If that’s possible then the next thing would be a volunteer module so that web users could sign up for an event from the calendar.

Am I dreaming to big for a non-programmer?

FYI, plancalendar is cgi based calendar, and monekt calendar is little bit unstable from my opinion I tried to use the features, but I couldn’t make it work, and I’m using the latest FireFox browser.

Your best bet will be http://www.k5n.us/webcalendar.php or maybe http://phpicalendar.net/

If you want to integrate it, you need to learn the core programming on tha third party calendar first, so that you know how to hijackthir user base to use the on povided by MODx, or you can set them up separate with separate user database as well. So far there has been no integration between those third party calendar with MODx yet. If you want, you can use the one that we built in here, which is located in this forum thread, but it doesn’t has all the ability to make recuring events and etc like all 3rd party system available. So in the end it’s al depend on your needs. My suggestion will be, use the right tool for the right job wink

I realized that Monket Calendar still consideres itself a beta version. One thing I really liked about both calendars was the date spanning labels. The site I design for quite often has week long calendar events. It would be really nice to have those visual indicators on the calendar.
