I have "inherited" ModX 0.9.6.3 for a web site I am now managing. The way we are working is that changes to templates and content are made on the staging server and once approved by a manager, will be applied to the production server.
I would like an easy, fool proof way of moving these changes from one server to another. At the moment I am thinking that I just FTP any new graphics from staging to production, backup the database tables that have changed then restore the database tables on the production server.
What database tables would I need to back up? Any that have the prefix "site_"? Would this approach work and is it the method that other people use?
I don’t really want to backup and restore the whole database or any tables with site configuration in as this seems unnecessary and the two servers have different file manager paths and so on.
This seems like a very obvious question so apologies if this has been asked before but I have yet to find an answer.
Thanks in advance.
