I was wondering how can I have some debug message from plug-ins... I mean: using "echo" does not work, is there any way?

Try using:
$modx->event->alert("Help!");

I never try this, but try to use
$modx->setPlaceHolder('some_error_message', 'Message info');
Put [+some_error_message+] in your page, hope it’s able to be parsed later by the doc parser.
It’s not 100% guarantee it will work though.
