hello,
I know this might and probably is a bug of modx but if someone might help or even push me into the right direction it would be a GREAT help.
I had some websites build in modx with ditto etc. everything worked fine. But after moving these sites to a new server the sorting stops to function. I mean any kind of sorting:
- the document tree - doesn’t matter what menuindex the documents have, ASC or DESC sorting will not work either, alphabetical too.. modx just places the documents the way they are being created in the manger.
- ditto - the same problem. If I run debug mode i can see the parameter, the sort direction and the data in the console, but nothing is being sorted in any kind
On the contrar - if I try to sort lines in a database using phpMyAdmin just to try if it works at least somewhere - it works - the database content is being sorted.
modx: 0.9.6.1p2 (but same issue in oder releases)
PHP Version 5.2.5
Apache/1.3.39 (Unix) PHP/5.2.5 mod_throttle/3.1.2 mod_psoft_traffic/0.2 mod_ssl/2.8.29 OpenSSL/0.9.8b
MySQL: MySQL: 5.0.51-log

IIRC, removing the GROUP BY clause in the Wayfinder code fixes this. It might work for Ditto as well.
Of course, updating the MySQL version would be a much better solution but I don’t think 5.0.52 is out yet and XAMPP is still packaging 5.0.51a which I’m pretty sure does not fix the problem.
Hmm, I’m running 5.0.54 on our CentOS server with no issues. It’s confusing that XAMPP has only released a bundle with 5.0.51 (I’m still using XAMPP 1.6.3 because of this); but MySQL versioning is not my expertise, and it’s confusing to say the least recently, as there appear to be a lot of releases with significant regression bugs.

I don’t know why I couldn’t find 5.0.52 earlier (or why 5.0.51a is still in the XAMPP package). Maybe they’re waiting for things to settle down. As you say, 5.0.54 is out but there does seem to be a lot of confusion in the releases.

I noticed you saying that version 5.0.54 is already out there, but I couldn’t find it - not as a community release anyway, source or binary.

So it looks like xampp are up to date with the latest available official version. Mysql don’t seem to be ready to convert their 5.1 candidate release into an official one yet and that’s where the delay is.
Cheers,
Paul
