We recently changed domain names where our modx install is located. The modx install stayed on the same server and the only changes to it that were made were to update the new domain name in any config files and use a find-replace module to rename instances of the old name.

The front end of the site seems to run just fine. However, it sometimes takes several attempts to log into the manager. Usually, it will only load up the top menu or the left-side file list (instead of the entire frameset of the manager interface). It also will randomly return you to the login screen. Once you go through this process a few times, it usually will ’stay’ logged in and behave. However, it’s a problem that makes it hard to manage the site when it randomly decides to log you out.

No one noticed this problem ever happening before the domain change and our server configuration stayed the same.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

We tried something last week and haven’t had any problems since.

We are now always using https (instead of http) and no one in the office has had this problem since. Still not exactly sure of what the problem is/was (as we didn’t have to do this before the domain change). But, this is working.

          Thanks!
