That configuration is scary. Register_globals being on is a huge warning sign in general. The fact MODx won’t install is also telling.

After further talking with the tech support at the host... i decided to go with Mambo as they install it for me. Their response was and I quote "Why don’t you use a CMS that works". I have since advised this client of mine to move to another host at the earliest.
Sounds like my ISP when trying to configure a white-box router for a Mac. Their computerized help desk prompt list obviously only covered the re-branded routers they provided and Windows. And this was the local telco monopoly
