Any great examples of ModX community sites?

I’m researching ModX for an upcoming project and I’d like to see examples of it in relation to community based sites. Sites that encourage lots of feedback, activity and maybe even personal profiles and blogs. Thanks in advance.

The MODX Club is a great showcase of a lot of different sites powered by MODX.

There’s also the showcase on the MODX site

Sure there’s something in there that catches your eye

Well, thanks. So far though I haven’t come across any community based sites. Which is surprising.

There’s not any sites coming to mind right now, but the partner listing of the MODX site could represent user profiles.. there’s a social media addon somewhere that creates links, and with Quip you can allow comments on your site.

I’m sure you can wrap it all together

With the Peoples, Login and FormIt Extras, a social site would not be difficult to create.

Where could I find these assets? Also I’m still getting used to the terminology. What would these things be called? Resources, chunks, snippets, all of the above? Is there a centralized location for these assets?

Extras/Addons/Components/3PCs (third party components) can be a combination of them all. They’re packages you can install via the Package Manager (System->Package Manager from within your manager) to add functionality to your site.

The Quickstart might help you get up to speed with the terminology: http://modx.com/learn/quickstart/
