[buggy snippet] Front End Document Manager (FDM) v0.1b

New version 0.0.95 solves many bugs, placeholder work.
If you use defaut template in MODx 0.9.6 reselect default template in manager - configuration:

@tommyt the next version would allow redirection to newly created doc, an arbitrary doc or parent.

Interesting behaviour, see attached screenshot. The document displayed was created with FDM. If I save the document (push save in the manager) all the TVs etc. appears (and contains whatever I added to them).

Other than that it seems like it’s working (editing documents etc.).

Bizarre indeed, pushing clear cache doesn’t change anything either. It’s not until I resave the document that the rest of it shows up.

To be able to either stop the normal content of a page from displaying, or to be able to have the edit form rendered on another page.

Like this, I got the normal FDM call on a page (including a parameter containing the id of my choice (say 192)), then I have another page (with is 192), which contains [!FDM &canmoderate=`blogadmins`!]. This would be the page you get sent to when adding/editing, and this is where the form should be displayed.

Firstly I think I get a similar problem to an earlier poster in 0.0.95: After a new document is created with FDM, in my case /events/test_event/, and *is* visible in the Manager, accessing /events/test_event/ on the front-end returns with a 404 error , until I push save on the /events/test_event/ page in the Manager.

Secondly I think there is a small problem with with the link to the document after a new document is created. The case above the document is /events/test_event/, but the link returned is to "assets//events/test_event/".

Also: another feature I would really find useful would be to be able to customise the id of where the add/edit/delete buttons lead.

The reason is that I would like to have a Ditto listing of news (say on /events/), and for each article there would be an FDM call, so the edit/delete buttons would appear. If the user click on edit, then they would be taken the the page of that article, where there would also be an FDM call (say for example on /events/test_event/).

Can you give me your FURL configuration, are you sure that all parent have an alias ?
the use with Ditto already works.
Displaying a list of document with their own FDM buttons bar.
You just need to add in the template for Ditto a call to FDM ie:

To use an other page for editing, ... wait and see.

Ps : I found the problem with manager, newly created doc with no model haven’t their type set to "document", I will make more test and post a new version.

I hope this is what you mean by FURL configuration:
- Use friendly URLs: yes
- Prefix for friendly URLS: (empty)
- Suffix for friendly URLS: /
- Use friendly aliases: Yes
- Use friendly alias path: Yes
- Allow duplicate aliases: No
- Automatically Generate Aliases: No

I am pretty sure that all parents have an alias, as new documents are accessibly via their friendly url (say /events/test_event/ in my example earlier).

A few other things: I think an earlier poster wanted it to be possible to be able to display content depending on if the document is being edited (so an editor does not see both the edit form and the previous content at the same time). I have just realised that this is easy with PHx, and the "get" custom modifier (In my case I am placing this in a ditto template as you suggest):

What this does it check if in the URL of the page there is an parameter "fdmaction" that starts with "edit" and if the parameter "fdmid" is equal to the current document being processed by ditto. If the page is being edited by FDM, then the document itself is not displayed, only the FDM edit form.

Also, I have discovered a problem with 0.0.97: editing a document does not actually edit the document: instead a new document is created in the root of the website and the old document (in a container) is unchanged.

you have a problem with :
- Suffix for friendly URLS: /
this part is added after your alias
ie your alias is "index" the suffix added is ’/’
normally you put ".hml" for the suffix this way the pagename is index.html
could you try and report back

Your tips is cool, but don’t work with add , you could simply test if fdmaction is not null (but other action do the same) or wait for the new version.
