Jot Dashboard: Version 0.1 Alpha [Module]

I’m developing a new module to work with Jot. All that it does right now is display all of the comments on your site from the most recent to the oldest, in a paginated format. This is the first version, so it may not even work for you, though I’m expecting it to be as stable as it is simple.

Also, I hope I’m not stepping on any toes. It was my understanding that Armand doesn’t have anything like this currently planned, at least not in the near future.

Features:
1. Custom Fields Specification: You can specify the custom fields that you want to display, using comma separated values under the module configuration tab. If you leave this parameter blank, all custom fields will be displayed. All custom fields are displayed by default.
2. Comments Per Page Specification: The comments are displayed in a paginated interface, and you can specify how many comments you want displayed on each page under the module configuration tab.
3. Store The Module Files Anywhere: By default, the Jot Dashboard folder is stored in your modules folder, but you can put it anywhere you want simply by specifying the path to the folder under the module configuration tab.

In a future version, I would like to be able to link each row in the table to the comment on the site, so that if you click it, it will open a new window or tab in your browser, go to the page that has that comment, and scroll to that comments position. However, I haven’t yet figured out how to obtain the string that is placed in the anchor for each comment. If you could give me some pointers on this, Armand, I would appreciate it.

Anyway, let me know what you think, as well as any problems you have. I’d also like to hear all of your ideas about what you’d like to see in future editions of this module.

Yes, actually that’s the next thing on my todo list. I want to be able to edit, delete, publish, and unpublish. I guess it would also be nice, instead of opening a new window and going to the page with the comment, to be able to just view the details of each comment right in the dashboard interface, with all the moderating tools there, as well.

It might be nice to tie into mootools, so that the content of each comment is already loaded and ready to pull up in a floating layer.

As you already noticed i’m not very active at the moment (will be in the future).
To answer the anchor question:

if you look the in the template you can see the anchors are based on the following string

jc[+jot.link.id+][+comment.id+]

link.id is a short version of the md5 hash that identifies the jot instance (8 characters)
and comment.id well.. is the comment id

I will try to keep an eye out for new developments concerncing Jot.

Question: How can i ad a direct link to Jot Dashboard in the menu besides Doc Manager and QuickEdit in the backend?

What features would you like to see in a JotDashboard? I have limited experience managing comments so am not sure what would be needed and have less experience managing with Jot (am building my blog now):

1) delete comment (spam)
2) filter comments per post
3) ..

What about some stats like:
1) # of comments for each post
2) ..

Maybe if we contribute some ideas and map this out it will be easier to take it forward. I have found that more time is consumed planning things than actually building them. Let’s do some brainstorming and see what would be interesting
