Vanilla-MODx Integration

I have taken it upon myself to revive this project. PaulGregory brought it a long way and I am continuing it.

Update: Work has not stopped on the project! My most recent milestone has been getting Vanilla and MODx sessions to synchronize. You can now login on any side and the action will traverse to the other system...

• MODx plugin that will allow users to create a document on the MODx side, and simultaneously create a discussion about the document on the forum side. This is my main goal for the project.

If anyone wants to help me out with these two features, I’ll be setting up a repository of my work soon. My real job is taking up a lot of time this week and next. So expect it in about two weeks

Wow, what a hectic couple of weeks!

Thanks for reminding me about this, I’ve packaged my current work on the vanilla side with some instructions on how to get it up and running.Work on the project has slowed because like most of my projects that I’d planned on releasing I decided to halt their release until 0.9.7 came out. This project is in the works for 0.9.7 and I plan to complete it. However, for the 0.9.6 and below users, here’s what I’ve done so far, hopefully someone can make sense out of it and carry on.

I’ve reimplemented PaulGregory’s work into a separate MODx library that overrides the Vanilla library files, so there’s no need to hack or patch files in the Vanilla core, meaning easy upgrading! I’ve also moved all the MODx specific configuration files in to a MODx folder inside the Vanilla ’conf’ folder. My plans are to eventually move ALL MODx configurations to the MODx side and [tt]require()[/tt] them within Vanilla’s configuration so as to make it easier for beginners to install this bridge. Right now though, this is such an early stage in development, I don’t want to get started on that until I get a working module for MODx.

I hope you enjoy the work I’ve done, I’ll keep a watch on this thread for future 0.9.6-vanilla-integration development.
