Wow, what a hectic couple of weeks!
Thanks for reminding me about this, I’ve packaged my current work on the vanilla side with some instructions on how to get it up and running.
== Installation ==
For now, It is recommended that you use a clean MODx 0.9.6 and Vanilla 1.1.2
install. You may choose to do otherwise, but you've been warned.
The two folders, 'conf' and 'library' contained in this file are meant to go
inside the base Vanilla install. NO FILES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN!
$ tar -xzvf modVanilla.tar.gz
* In the 'conf folder
*# A new folder will be made called 'MODx' with 3 files.
*# In YOUR 'database.php' configuration file, add the following line: <tt>require('MODx/database.php');</tt>
*# In YOUR 'settings.php' configuration file, add the following line: <tt>require('MODx/settings.php');</tt>
*# Open up 'MODx/settings.php' and modify the configuration to match your environment.
*# Open up 'MODx/install.sql' and modify the prefixes to match your environment.
*# Backup your MODx database.
*# Run the 'MODx/install.sql' script on your MODx database.Work on the project has slowed because like most of my projects that I’d planned on releasing I decided to halt their release until 0.9.7 came out. This project is in the works for 0.9.7 and I plan to complete it. However, for the 0.9.6 and below users, here’s what I’ve done so far, hopefully someone can make sense out of it and carry on.
I’ve reimplemented PaulGregory’s work into a separate MODx library that overrides the Vanilla library files, so there’s no need to hack or patch files in the Vanilla core, meaning easy upgrading! I’ve also moved all the MODx specific configuration files in to a MODx folder inside the Vanilla ’conf’ folder. My plans are to eventually move ALL MODx configurations to the MODx side and [tt]require()[/tt] them within Vanilla’s configuration so as to make it easier for beginners to install this bridge. Right now though, this is such an early stage in development, I don’t want to get started on that until I get a working module for MODx.
I hope you enjoy the work I’ve done, I’ll keep a watch on this thread for future 0.9.6-vanilla-integration development.
