Friendly URLs NOT WORKING

    Please help, we have tried everything!

    Switched Friendly URL’s to ON, did the rewrite (unless we put it in the wrong place),
    the only page that works is the index. php
    we want our urls to be .html, not ID’s
    all of the links on the index page redirect to the "correct" href, but those pages aren’t there...


    any suggestions?

      It sounds like a webserver configuration problem. Are you running Apache?

      You should have a plain text file named .htaccess in the base MODx directory (which contains index.php, assets, manager, etc) containing a minimum of the following:

      RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

        yes, we are running apache


        where do i put that code in the htaccess file?

          You should read FURL - related article on modx wiki and maybe huge FURl topic somethere on this forum. Also make sure that apache is set to allow setttings override by htaccess files.

              Are you including the dot before htaccess (.htaccess)?

              Take a look at: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Friendly_URLs_Guide

              Try removing any existing htaccess rules to see if they are conflicting in some way.

              If you are unable to get it working after reading the guide, it is very possible that it’s an Apache configuration issue as Errant mentioned in which case you should contact your hosting provider.
