Context support will be available with the release of 0.9.7, which is currently in alpha testing within the MODx team. We expect to move to beta stage as soon as 0.9.6 is released, which marks the last of the legacy MODx codebase. 0.9.7 will represent a completely rewritten core engine, so implementation of this hack will simply disappear when you upgrade (those legacy files will no longer be used), and you would need to adjust dependencies on the hack to make use of the Context support. Currently, 0.9.7 manager interface support for Contexts is still pending, but should be at least partially implemented by the time it goes to public beta.
I do not have specific dates to provide, as open source schedules can be difficult to predict, but we should see public releases of both 0.9.6 final and 0.9.7 beta before March is over.
