what do the xe etc. things mean in terms of this feed I’m trying to display on a web page:

http://feeds.mycareer.com.au/results?partitionID=1&s=151&q=project+manager&l=4&c=6&sc=465&sm=1&format=atom

I keep getting an error when I try to display this feed URL.

This is the snippet call I’m using:

[!FeedX? &url=`http://feeds.mycareer.com.au/results?partitionID=1&s=151&q=project+manager&l=4&c=6&sc=465&sm=1&format=atom` &preset=`rss` &caheTime=`3600` &debug=`1`!]

This is the error I’m getting:

Version FeedX 0.1.2
URL http://feeds.mycareer.com.au/resultspartitionI [ERROR RETRIEVING FEED]
Cache Type Data caching
Cache Time 900 seconds

Any help would be awesome

In snippet calls, "=", "&", "?" have defined meaning, in which will cause conflicts if they show up in the feed URL. To avoid conflicts, the snippet author does character replacement, which requires you to change any of those symbols in the feed URL as follows:

"=" changed to "|xe|"
"&" changed to "|xa|"
"?" changed to "|xq|"

So for your example, it would look like:

[!FeedX? &url=`http://feeds.mycareer.com.au/results|xq|partitionID|xe|1|xa|s|xe|151|xa|q|xe|project+manager|xa|l|xe|4|xa|c|xe|6|xa|sc|xe|465|xa|sm|xe|1|xa|format|xe|atom` &preset=`rss` &caheTime=`3600` &debug=`1`!]

I did that really quick, so if you get an error when you paste that in, double check that I did it right.

hey jesse,

thanks so much for that. how do you get it to display on the page?

at the moment i’ve just got the two links:

open debug console
save debug console

does this mean there is an error?

any help would be great

You are using the template for an "rss" feed, and by looking at the URL, I am guessing you should use the one for an "atom" feed. Change the template to &preset=`atom`

Also, opening the debug console will provide you with a wealth of helpful information for building your own templates. You can find the pre-configured templates at assets/snippets/FeedX/tpl

Hello,

FeedX seems just impressive, but I think there’s a missing feature that would make it just the best XML reader ever!

How about making it able to store and archive captured feeds into your own MODx site?

This is a key feature I’d like to implement in my website, and I just asked in this thread because I think Drupal can do that :http://drupal.org/node/289 (can it?)

Is anyone else interested in this feature?

That is not an atom feed. In fact, it does not look like a XML feed at all. Unfortunately, I do not think you will be able to use FeedX to display the search results from Seek.com on your own site.
