Tip: duplicate the chunk and reference it in the snippet call. If you update Gallery through the package manager, your changes will be overwritten.

      Greetings, all.

I stumbled my way across this thread in search of a good solution for a portfolio. As I am very new to ModX, I want to make sure my thought process is clear/correct. I would appreciate any feedback/input/assistance on this. Call me n00b.

Okay, so my idea is this:

      -Home Page
--Portfolio page (list of all projects using thumbnails and short description - possible dynamic sorting using JS)
---Individual Project page (displays larger image(s) of project with detailed description & pagination to prev/next projects)

      Here’s what I am assuming:

      • Portfolio page will be a container with a bunch of Individual Project pages within it.
      • Using Chunks to pull thumbs dynamically to the Portfolio page whilst linking to their respective Individual Project pages
      • Using a bunch of TVs to build each Individual Project page
      • Use getResources to pull the thumbs (from their TVs) from the Individual Project pages

Beyond that, I’m not exactly sure what to do... any suggestions? Is this even possible? It makes sense in my head, but then again, so does world peace...

      Cheers.

I think you mainly got it.

Is this site for you or a client?

I like having a "portfolio" template that brings in chunks that contain TV’s for stuff like custom headlines, intro text blocks, quotes, and a small teaser image and snippet call to the gallery snippet of your choice. All of the TV’s can then have good descriptive captions as to what they do. This helps the owner/manager of the site. Having the TV’s inside chunks means you can wrap them in custom CSS which makes for a specific presentation. Each page or portfolio is then entered in the same way (Ditto for Evo and getResources for Revo).

You can then style the overall container page that houses all the individual galleries. Creating an overall container div that presents the child galleries using floats can create a really nice looking presentation...

          Thanks for the input-

The site is for me, so I’m not necessarily too worried that I’ll forget which fields are for what - but I try to keep them as descriptive as I can.

If I understand you correctly, I could create something like this:

          Portfolio page
          -div wrapper
          --Chunks
          ----TVs
-----Thumbnail, description, link to individual pages

Makes sense in my head smiley We’ll see if I can piece it together... bring on the education! Thanks for your help.

          Cheers.
