MODxLink beta [TinyMCE plugin]

Hi all,

This TinyMCE plugin (my first!) is based of awardle’s excellent FCK plugin called CMSContent.

The plugin allows for a link dialog box to be accessed from the TinyMCE toolbar that allows you to navigate to your chosen page using a document tree. All the properties/attributes that are accessible using the normal advanced link dialog are present in this plugin as well.

To install, please follow the instructions in the readme.txt. Please note that this plugin does require some changes to the MODx TinyMCE plugin code in the MODx manager, but I’ve included a sample extract of the changes to hopefully get most people started.

This plugin, at the moment, is probably not suited to large sites as all the documents have to be loaded into the document tree before the dialog box is displayed - please give it a go and let me know if you have any issues with this. I am looking at adapting this to use a ajax-driven document tree at some point to help alleviate this potential problem.

Also, when you edit a link you have to retype in the link details - this is a bug that appears to affect the standard link dialog as well but I’m looking into it anyhow.

Anyway, enough said, I’ll let you go and have a play.

Yes, really nice work Garry! This goes great together with the snippet inserting tiny mce plugin that TobyL did.. and the thing that TinyMCE will be the default editor in 0.9.5 (or am I wrong?)

Yes, TinyMCE will be the default editor from 0.9.5 onwards. Thanks for the link to the snippet plugin as well, I missed that completely when it was posted, looks cool!

I could’nt wait so just tried it out, much easier to install and works like a dream.

I wanted to test you add-on but I’ve got an error message when I’m opening the modxlink window form button bar.

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Could this be related to the amount of documents in tree repository (about 2 500) ?

Most likely, which was one of my concerns I raised in the first post. My aim is to switch this over to an ajax-driven tree implementation as soon as I get time to sit down and hack it out. (not sure when this will be but I aim to at least have a look in the next few weeks)

I’ve just installed this and when clicking on the insert link I’m not getting the document tree.

See pic below.


I click on view all, but nothing happens.

I have copied and pasted the config from the readme.txt into the config of the tinyMCE plugin using the resource manager.

What am I doing wrong?
