I’ve been an etomite user since the phase days. I’ve enjoyed eto, but I check out this site often and can’t help but notice the great things you are doing here. At this point I have 1 site running modx and 6 running eto and I think I’m ready to switch them all. My question before committing to modx is whether or not the team and community feel this project is around for the long haul. I’m nervous to make the change and need some reassuring. What is the talk of tattoo? Will tattoo be opensource or turn commercial? Is the name just a rebranding of sorts?

    Thanks for helping me out...

LOL... I’ve worked full time for the last year basically on making sure MODx will be around for the long run. My keeping food on the table for my wife and kiddo, depend on it. MODx is a great application now and we have some amazing things in store for next year.

Oh, and we’re about to unleash yet another bug and feature fix upgrade in time for Christmas.

The code will always be open source, but there may be some commerical support options crop up. See this post about donating to the project for more details.

      Welcome aboard, I hope!

Sounds great. Thanks for the response Ryan. I love the improvements you’ve made and this site is really great. I especially like the smf integration. Is there a public snippet to take care of that?

I hope to migrate my sites soon.

Having also been a strong Etomite user in the past, my instinct is that MODx and Eto will both be around for a while. However, I see the pace of MODx, and the size and ability of it’s development team as being tremendous assets. With more people coming on board every day, it seems to be gaining momentum, not losing it.
