Using modResource->_fields

Anything wrong with using the $modx->resource->_fields array?

I’d probably use either:

$field = $modx->resource->get(’fieldname’);

or

$fields = $modx->resource->toArray();



No idea about that array.. if it’s there, might as well use it too?

Anything that begins with an underscore is not meant to be used from outside the class, so I’d steer clear.

Mark H.’s methods would be the safest in the long run.

Thanks guys, I’ll stick with get().

IIRC xpdo calls cache the result set, so shouldn’t be a problem.


If you have a big result set and care about performance, you could also use $modx->getIterator(class,$critera) which, instead of getting the whole collection, only fetches the objects you request.
