I’m running evolution 1.02 and trying to use UTF-8 friendly aliases (in my case i’m using hebrew characters in the url) but it does not seem work even with the correct settings in the TransAlias plugin.
I managed to narrow it down to the following problem:
The cleanDocumentIdentifier method in document.parser.class.inc.php uses the php function basename in order to extract the page alias from the query string. The basename function depends on the current php locale and requires an appropriate locale set in order to support utf-8. Unfortunately I can not find any way to set the php locale without hacking the modx core files as cleanDocumentIdentifier runs before the first event in the page lifecycle.
Any suggestions?

That sounds like it would be helpful to file a bug in JIRA to ensure it’s resolved in a future release.
