I am dealing with a simular problem: does a client always need acces to the modx manager for some standard tasks?
In my case: updating/adding a testimonial tekst.

I just know modx for a few days, but i was thinking to create a clients-page, with some forms as content, and process the chances by that page. In your example, why not use a dedicated page for a client and let them fill in the footertext in that form. Create a snippet to get the text from the database and insert that snippet in your template or footerchunk?

It is just a thought and i do not know if this is the right approach for a modx site.

Ok, then, create a resource and TV pair as I suggested. Hide the TV using ManagerManager, since you don’t want its @DOCUMENT #id default value being changed.

Now, in the QuickEdit plugin’s configuration tab, create a new QM item menu "Edit Footer" that links directly to that new page. Your client can edit that page like any other page, and this will change the footer for everything.
