Parse modx tags inside a TV from a snippet?

I’m going nuts trying to figure this out.

I have a TV (rich text) that, if set, is being placed in a sidebar by a snippet (with a bunch of wrapper HTML around it). That’s working great! BUT, if I place a call to a snippet/chunk/whatever inside the TV, the snippet just outputs the modx placeholder and not the generated output.

Is there an API call I can use that parses a string of code and returns the generated output?

I’m guessing it’s either

Try turn on... Tools -> Configuration -> XHTML URLs

...or it’s how you call/or not call the snippets

versus if resource/document is cached or not...

Show your snippet!
And tell if the document is cached or not.

The document is not cached. I call the snippet with [!includeSideBar!] in the template.

Also tried with getTemplateVarOutput, but that didn’t seem to work either.

XHTML URLs is turned on.

For testing - Try set the tv to regular text and no ouput widget! Does it work now?

But it seems your snippet is fine if you can use the TV with rich text...

Tried setting the TV to the "text" type, but it still does not render MODx placeholders inside the TV.

RichText works great, but if I put a snippet in with the rest of the text it just comes out as I typed it ([!testSnippet!]). It does not seem to be a problem with HTML entities.

I don’t have an output widget set at all. Should I?

Another option would just create a chunk and have your wrapper html around [*sidebarTV*] ?
