Hi all,
I’m using evolution 096.
I have a site that is structured by language. So in the root of the site I have folders like ’nl’, ’en’ etc. There are 2 things I need and I’m not sure about how to change them.
I want the url www.mycompany.com/nl/software/supercoolproduct to be available as www.mycompany.nl/supercoolproduct.
2 things happened:
- I want to get rid of the ’/nl’ part, but I don’t want to set up a different modx installation for every language
- I want to get rid of the folder ’software’ in the url, but not in the modx-pagetree. There are multiple reasons why I want to keep it in the tree, one of them being that I still need to be able to use wayfinder for example.
One additional note: I still want www.mycompany.nl/supercoolproduct/features to stay working. So the hierarchy will need to be taken into account
Any thoughts where to start?
As far as i know, to change from www.mycompany.com to url www.mycompany.nl, you should register a new domain and the same thing for another language.
Regarding to folder ’software’ and it’s child, you might try set ’Use friendly alias path’ to Yes in tool->configuration->friendly url tab. It’s in evo anyway. I don’t use 0.96. May be similiar ?

Right, unless you own www.mycompany.nl and can redirect people from it, users who enter that URL will never get to your site in the first place.
um thanks guys but that’s not exactly what I meant. Obviously I own www.mycompany.nl, but the point is that .nl needs to point to a different branch in the tree than .com
Use friendly alias path is also already enabled.. I wouldn’t be able to use friendly urls if I didn’t.

No, FURLs work fine with friendly alias path turned off (see the site in my sig).
I don’t think you can have it both ways. Either you have the full path in the URL or the full path doesn’t work. But I could be wrong -- I’ve never tried it.
