Suggestion for Core Code

How about multiple site support for MODx - please hear me out, as it is an issue for me and probably many others.

Multiple site support (either following this example, or including it):

Support for a network of sites - NOT subdomains - Each site has it’s own domain name, templates, CSS, config files, page titles, etc. The only things they have in common is that they use the same install of MODx, and use the same single database - thus sharing the same content.

Of course different parts of the content is shown on the different sites (ie. Content relevent for New York is shown on the site for it, California content is shown on the site for it, etc...).

Basically, kind of like the multiple site support module for the Django framework (each site has it’s own config file, and can point to the same modules, DB’s, etc - from the same codebase installed in one place - while having the ability for seperate templates, CSS, and other INDIVIDUAL data defining the different sites)

This would be a very useful feature for news sites, corporate sites, coupon/gift certificate sites, advertising sites, etc that have different regions they serve via a network of different sites pulling from the same datasource.

There are a couple of modules for this. It is also "bult-in" to Revolution (0.9.7). There will most likely not be any significant changes to the core of the current Evolution (0.9.6) core.
