Global Meta Tags

Is there a way to add global meta tags to my MODx site? I’m using version 0.9.6.3.

I think the most straight forward way to achieve this would be to add the required meta tags to the Templates you use for the site.

* document keywords and/or metatags are not automatically added by MODx unless you specifically choose at least one keyword/metatag when editing/creating a document.

I would further suggest you add them to your templates and use TVs for the values with a default entry and an @INHERIT binding:

Todd Malicoat Meh. This is so ’98. If someone mentions writing all your keywords in meta tags you should probably run from them screaming "spammer" at the top of your lungs.

Roger Montti aka martinibuster Sometimes I wonder if having this tag in there might count against you, at least for a fraction of a point. If I were turning the knobs I’d make it worthy of raising at least one eyebrow on an algo cruncher somewhere.

My take on that article is that there’s a high degree of consensus that meta-keywords in a meta keyword tag in a document header bears no positive affect whatsoever in Google.

Google quit using keywords 3 years ago according to a marketing specialist colleague of mine, but the other search engines still use them.

Due to "google fatigue" we use custom keywords on every single page via a TV (so we can bypass having to remember what keywords to use in the Manage Meta Tags and Keywords admin area).
