SEF URL's Hide Parent

Hi everyone,

I have a setup in the document tree that I need to maintain, this is the current setup:

I have friendly URL’s enabled, and ‘Use friendly alias path:’ set to true.

When ‘Page 1’ in ‘Group 1’ is accessed the URI is http://www.domain.com/pages/group-one/page-1.html
Page 2: http://www.domain.com/pages/group-one/page-2.html

Is it possible in .htaccess to omit the ‘pages’ part of the URL so

http://www.domain.com/pages/group-one/page-1.html becomes: http://www.domain.com/group-one/page-1.html

My .htaccess file is:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteOptions Inherit

RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA,NC]
```
Basically just strip ’pages’ from the URL’s
