Hardcoded Timestamp...

This might already be answered somwhere here in the forum, but I couldn’t find any useful information.

Why is the setting for strftime and all related strings hardcoded into files and not editable inside the manager?
And why keep them in files on different places when it to me makes more sense to have them all stored in either the langfiles or a config file under lang...?

Just wondering.

These references are all created by component developers. The MODx core does not control this. You can use strftime with your own patterns in any code you want within MODx.

I’m kind of a n00b at this, but does that mean for instance that the mutate_web_user.dynamic.php and the save_web_user.processor.php is not core?

Exactly what is the core then?

So if I as a future developer would want the ability to set the strftime inside the manager and get this approved by the core team, I could?
That is if the core team recognizes this feature as an actual feature worth implementing...

I thought you meant for front-end web-site development. No that is definitely core. That probably could use a system setting.

Absolutely.

It would be cool to have an additional parameter in the Site Settings to define the date format to use. And have this parameter available to use within snippets as well (like a global date/time setting). Good idea.

So.

I think I know more then a few people who would like this feature.
I will ask a friend of mine program it, and then I’ll post it here.
I’m guessing it shouldn’t be that hard to fix.
