I’m finding a couple of my sites a little slower than I’d like. Part of this is no doubt from using a shared server, but I’m wondering if I can optimize the performance by adjusting whether snippets are called chached or uncached.
At the moment, in the templates I’m calling the Wayfinder snippet for the navigation menus uncached. If I change this to cached, will it cause a problem? I assume if it is cached in the template that the result of the Wayfinder call would be cached as part of each individual page, which would be fine. But what if someone adds a new page to the site? Does that mean it won’t show up in the navigation, or does the process of adding a page clear the cache for all pages? (And if not, can I set it up this way?)
Sadly, pages also call several snippets that I can’t cache, but if I can cache the wayfinder calls, is that likely to increase performance? The sites aren’t particularly heavily used (maybe 400 visitors/1,400 pageviews per day).
Also, I’m using some PHx in the templates. Is that likely to be slowing things down?

you can cache wayfinder calls, when a page is changed or added the cache will refresh itself.
