allow duplicate alias doesn't work

Hi,

Even if I have Allow duplicate aliases: YES when I create a document with the same title in another container I get the name + number

Eg: My Page Title -> my-page-title1

Is this a bug or this the right way.

Also how can I enforce that the alias changes each time you change the Title of a document.
By default the alias is set only when you first save the document?

The alias does not change unless you change it manually.

I’ve never used the auto-alias feature; I always give a document an alias when I create the document, or just go with the document ID default alias. So I can’t speak as to how that works.

To enforce the alias change you would use a plug-in, pretty much the same principal as the InheritParentTemplate plug-in works. There are some arguments against this, specifically regarding issues with search engines.

I completely agree with you but for a "simple" client an extra field is to much some times.
Also if they change the title of a page they have to know what the alias means. Otherwise they forget to change it.

Any ideas on why i get a different alias for 2 similar(equal page title) documents in diffrent containers:
my-title
my-title1
my-title2

If you duplicated a page and then moved it to another container, the duplicated page will have page-title1 attached to it, since it was originally created inside the same container as the other. You’ll also have to enable friendly alias paths to ensure that the containers are generated into the path as well.

That makes sens.
