File manager - modx_events_log gets too big

Yesterday, I received a message of a client because all the disk space was used by their site. When I looked into the manager, I saw the modx_events_log had grown to 285 Mb.

I advised to clear this table, which solved the problem at that moment, but because there’s much information on this site which is dayly updated, the modx_events_log grows very fast.

I wondered if it’s possible to clear this table automaticly every day. This site uses Modx 0.9.5.

I also wondered if it could be realized in future versions to give control over the growth of the logs, i.e. to configure a maximum size or to overwrite events after a configurable amount of days. Actually much like the event logs in Windows can be configured.

Suggestions to this issue would be much appreciated.

Delete the Template Switcher plugin completely. I suspect you’ve got it installed.

TemplateSwitcher was indeed installed (by default) so I removed it. Do you think this causes the fast growth of the log, even if this plugin isn’t used? This plugin is installed on all of my sites, but I hadn’t had any difficulties with it so far...

Still it would be handy in my opinion if the behavior of the event log could be configurable.

It would indeed be handy. The template switcher plugin is no longer a part of MODx because of the problems it created, like the event log table. I’d remove it everywhere.
