I mean (for expample) via Link or Input field. Not when I’m locked in or so.

Do you mean being able to edit a TV without being logged in the manager or logged in and from the front end ?

If 1st -> not possible. If 2nd, make sure to add the "#" to your TV in the template to make it editable through QuickEdit (ex: [*#my_tv*] )

Well, that would mean allow open editing, no control : you have that in wikis, but wikis have revisionning to restore their pages : we do not (yet) !

Unless you meant give access to QuickEdit to web users, now that’s an idea but currently not possible either... it has been posted as a feature request already if I remember correctly...

Actually, you can definitely modify TV’s without being logged in as admin, from the front end. I created a music site that does this very thing. The only thing is, there’s no "one-click" way to set this up; you have to be very familiar with PHP. I created a snippet with it’s own class structure, that taps into the modx class and does all kinds of database queries when certain forms are filled out or buttons are clicked by the general public.

Nice... and would this snippet become available to the public at any point in the future ?
That would be great, since it’s a frequent feature request smiley

Can you create a form with an input/textarea and set the template variable on your submit action?

It’s not really any good for general use; I designed it to do specifically what that site needed it to do.

I’ll put some thought into a snippet with some general functionality, though I can see that development of a general-use snippet for this purpose could get quite hairy.

The main purpose of my prior post, though, was to point out that it would be very feasible for someone with moderate capabilities in PHP and MySQL to create a snippet for their specific needs in this area. It’s just simple DB queries and PHP variables. And being familiar with the MODx API makes it even easier.

Perhaps just as helpful, or even more helpful, than writing a general purpose snippet, would be to write a tutorial on how to do this?
