question on how MODx handels file downloads.

    I will be making a software site and am looking for a cms that will work for it without to much modification. Not all of the software will be hosted on the site. I wish to use redirects the same way download.com and downloads.zdnet.com use. Is there a module or way of doing this without major modification. Thank you in advance.

      Please check "FileDownload" Snippet and plugins. ( please Google Search for FileDownload and FileDownloadPlugin )

      For redirects, MODx’s native "WebLink" feature is to look into I guess.

        That helps but I am also wondering if there is a way to prevent the user from seeing the URL of the download. Say they come to my site and download something but that file is not hosted on my server. My server isn’t robust enough to host all the files. I will probably have to look at the FileDownload and FileDownloadPlugin and see if there is a way to modify them to hide the URL. Thanks for your help.
