MODX Community Site

Hi all,
I just finished installing the MODX CMS and I must say I’m extremely pleased with it, although my experience with AJAX apps has always been good.
I have just one query:
Is it possible to create a community portal using MODX? Where users are given their own accounts without admin priveleges?
I really want to be able to build a good AJAX website, but it will be of no use without community features.

MODx does not impose any limitations. You might start looking through the resource repository at things like PPP. There aren’t any baked in "community portal" features/code because we’ve focused specifically on not being YAPS (Yet Another Portal System), but that doesn’t mean that developers can’t turn it into one.

I am also looking for a way to build a community with MODx. If "There aren’t any baked in community portal features", my question is: how easy would it be to to add such features. I mean are there pluggable modules available for that?
