How do you reset Resource IDs??

I’ve been testing different layouts, chunks, TV’s and such on modx revo and now that I am ready to build something substantial, my resource IDs have racked up to 30.

Is it possible to start over, at 1? Or to specify/edit resource IDs?

I am getting a 404 error on http://www.mydomain.com/index.php even when I have created a home resource page and attached a template to it. The only way to access the homepage is to manually type http://www.mydomain.com/index.php?id=30. But then I download the sample modx page and index.php works fine, pulling up the sample homepage without a problem. I assume it’s because the sample homepage has a resource id of 1.

Not sure if they can actually be reset however you can specify the start page ( home page ) in the settings

Could you be a bit more specific about where/how to specify the start page? I’ve looked under page settings, and googled it and still can’t find any answers...

In the manager, System->System Settings

In the filter by area box, scroll down to "Site". In the list that comes up you should see "Site Start". By default it’s set to 1. Change that to whatever resource ID you want to be your home page

If I may ask though, is this a common practice? What’s the logic behind not being able to reset the resource ID’s? So if I were to start a new project, the first resource (likely the homepage) would always be 1? Just curious...

Resource ID are strictly connected with many snippets like Ditto, Wayfinder, ajaxsearch etc etc. So if you reset the ID the website stop working, that’s why you cannot do that.
