Started working for a francise company with 60 partners this week. They are currently still working with HTML (not even any PHP, the guy had to look to see if PHP was enabled undecided) I have managed to persuade them that we need to upgrade...and I mean seriously upgrade, I spent 2 days updating the page for each of the 60 partners with the same cosmetic changes each time.

After telling my boss that something like that would have taken me 10 minutes including putting the kettle on, he has agreed to give it a try. I like Modx a lot and my question is:

If I create a folder for instance www.mydomain.com/relaunch and install modx to the install directory, can I once its completed, simply FTP everything up one level to www.mydomain.com. As far as I can see there is no reason why not, and really hope that is the case!

    Thanks for any help,
    Taff

Yes. You will need to change some configuration options when you move the site (in the manager), and if you are using friendly urls then you will need to change your .htaccess file to match.

Make sure all of your images and files are referenced relative rather than absolute, or you’ll be a long time changing paths on images and such! ( assets/images/myimage.png, not ...www.mysite.com/modx/assets/images/myimage.png )
